【Donation of Weight Scales, Blood Pressure Monitors, and Thermometers Used in Clinical Studies to Disaster-stricken Area of the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake】

Sumitomo Pharma actively promotes the "3Rs" of waste management (reduce, reuse, recycle) to make effective use of limited resources under the Mid- to Long-term Environmental Goals.

The equipment such as weight scales, blood pressure monitors, and thermometers, that were lent to medical institutions for clinical studies in drug development, were scheduled to be returned and discarded as they had no further use after the studies. In order to effectively utilize the equipment, the personnel of Drug Development Division led activities to repurpose them.
During our consideration of donation recipients in line with our commitment as a pharmaceutical company to contribute to healthier and more fulfilling lives of people, we received requests from the following organizations engaged in support activities in Suzu City, Wajima City, and Nanao City in Ishikawa Prefecture, which were heavily affected by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake. We have donated 42 weight scales, 47 blood pressure monitors, and 83 thermometers to these organizations.

By enabling the equipment originally used in clinical studies to serve the health management of individuals forced to live in evacuation centers or temporary housing, we believe that we have contributed not only to the environment but also to people's health.

Sumitomo Pharma strives to promote reuse as much as possible, reducing environmental impact while contributing to our Mission for "healthier and more fulfilling lives of people."
